It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Servie Flores, beloved matriarch. Maria died at home on Thursday, October 8th, with her daughters by her side. She was born on April 17, 1936, in Taos, NM. In 1961, she met Arturo Flores, to whom she would remain married till his passing in 2023. As an Air Force spouse, Maria traveled the world with Art until his retirement in 1981, when they chose to settle in Lompoc, CA. After her children became adults, she traveled and worked in the home, eventually helping to raise her grandchildren. She and her husband were Friday regulars at the Whistle Stop in Lompoc, where her drink of choice was a CC & 7.

Maria is survived by her devoted daughters Victoria King (Stan) & Annette Flores, sister Kathryn Sanchez (Leola), grandchildren Xandie King Groves & Tristan Allen King (Alex), great-grandchildren Jordan, Chloe, Riley, Corbin, Layne, & Dalton, all of Lompoc, CA, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo, her beloved parents, Jose Albino Sanchez and Corina Manuela Sanchez, her siblings Dorothy, Phillip, Laudie, & Benny, her nephew Clifford, and her grandson-in-law, Tim.

Maria will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary (123 N A St, Lompoc, CA). A graveside service will follow at Lompoc Cemetery. Reception to follow immediately after services.
