Maria de Jesus Zamora Vega passed Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the age of 93. Maria was born October 20, 1921, in Ario de Rayon, Michoacán, Mexico to Jesus and Francisca Zamora. A resident of Lompoc since 1975, she was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of La Purisima Catholic Church.
Maria enjoyed traveling to many parts of Mexico. She took many trips to visit Cristo Rey, San Juan de los Lagos, Acapulco and La Basilica de Guadalupe.
Her favorite hobby was making beautiful crochet bedspreads, tablecloths and doilies which she gave away with love to family and friends. She was an expert at cross stitching. She always enjoyed a nice cold Coca-Cola.
Maria de Jesus was a loving mother to all her children. She is survived by her daughter Francisca Quintero of Lompoc, her son Jose Quintero of Lompoc, her daughter Elisa Quintero of Aurora, Colorado, her son Carlos Quintero of Guadalupe, her daughter Maria Quintero of Van Nuys, her daughter Rosa Quintero of Lompoc, her daughter Soledad Quintero of Lompoc and her son Jose Luis Quintero of Lompoc. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren including her granddaughter Alejandra Quintero of Lompoc whom she raised.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Quintero, her son Salvador Quintero and her grandson Juan Carlos Quintero
The visitation will be Sunday, April 5, 2015, from 3 to 8pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Father Tom Cook will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 10am at La Purisima Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
