Maria Maher of Lompoc passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007, in Liberal, Kansas at the age of 75.
Maria was born December 9, 1931 in Minneola, Kansas. She was raised and educated in Liberal. Formerly of Florida, she came to Lompoc in 1963 with her husband, who was in the US Air Force.
A lifelong homemaker, Maria's passion was sewing. She was a member of Quilters Etc. in Lompoc. She loved being a mother and grandmother, and was a fan of NASCAR motor sports.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Patrick Maher in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Thomas of Gilbert, Arizona; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick, Jr. and Darnell Maher of Dana Point, Raymond and Mary Maher of Santa Maria, and Michael and Elaine Maher of Lompoc; sisters, Carmen Duran of Wichita, Kansas, and Virginia Gonzalez of Liberal; brothers, Johnnie and Joe Martinez both of Liberal and Lino Martinez of Birmingham, Alabama; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Jack Thomas.
Father Tom Cook of La Purisima Catholic Church will officiate at graveside funeral service for Maria on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lompoc, Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at 100 East Locust Avenue in Lompoc.
