Maria Socorro "Mary" Rodriguez, 90, of Lompoc passed away on December 14, 2009. Mary was born on October 30, 1919 in Phoenix, Arizona to Francisco and Ramona Rodriguez. Mary was raised and educated in the Phoenix area and later moved to the San Diego area where she raised her family.
While living in the San Diego area Mary worked as a housekeeper and attended St. Jude Shrine Catholic Church. In 1990, she moved from San Diego to Lompoc in 1990 to live her daughter, Teddie Wedgeworth. Mary enjoyed her family, crossword puzzles, mystery novels, and collecting religious items.
Mary was the last surviving child of 11 siblings. She was preceded in death by two of her sons, Chris and Rudy Rodriguez. She is survived by her daughters; Vivian Silva of Phoenix, Arizona, Teddie (Chester) Wedgeworth of Lompoc, Gloria (John) McCain of San Diego, sons; Raul (Gracie) Rodriguez and Joe Rodriguez, of San Diego; 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 60 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A rosary service will be held on Friday, December 17, 2009 at El Camino Memorial at Imperial Avenue in San Diego at 6pm, viewing will be from 4 to 8pm. A graveside internment will be held at 1pm, Saturday, December 18, 2009 at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego.
