Marian Strawn Hurd of Lompoc died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the age of 73.

Marian was born at home on June 18th, 1935 in Austin, Mn. One of 12 children, she graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1953. She moved to Lompoc, Ca. in 1965, where she worked as a nurse's aide at Lompoc and Marian Hospitals, managed multiple apartment complexes, and was an employee of the Grand Lodge Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #2274.

Affectionately known as "Cookie" to close friends and family, she enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, canning vegetables and preserves, and making her famous cookies. . Friends and family will sorely miss her annual Flower Festival Parties.

Marian is survived by her loving husband John Hurd of Lompoc, Brothers James (Tamara) McNally in Lubbock, TX, Daniel (Lois) McNally in Waukesha, WI; Brian (Baerbel) McNally in Eagen, MN. ; Dennis McNally in Austin, MN. Thomas (Leslie) McNally in St. Paul, MN.; Sisters Sharon Johnson in Atascadero, CA. ;Mary (Jay) Haroldson in Placentia, CA.; Edith Lee in Costa Mesa, CA.; and Susan Downs in Santa Ana, CA. Sons Scott (Debby) Wheeler of Jamestown, NC; Thomas Stewart III in Santa Ana, CA. Daughters Mary (Robert)Christopher in Irvine , CA, Sheri (Steve)Ruiz and Paula Armero of Lompoc, and LouAnn Moore in Moreno Valley, CA. Grandchildren are Natalie Tajeda, Timothy Ruiz, Daniel and Scott Christopher; Robert and Kristeen Wheeler; Jackie Stewart; Derrick and Melissa Moore, Jonathan Cambron, Gabbie and Brittany Armero. Great granddaughter Kaylin Cambron.

Preceded in death by her parents Faber and Leontine McNally of Austin, MN; Sisters Patricia Rishavy of Newport, MN. And Sister M. Janet McNally Order of St. Francis, Rochester, MN. And granddaughter Jaclyn Ruiz.

A memorial service will be held at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A St., at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2009. In lieu of flowers her family requests memorial donations be made to the Lompoc Elks Dictionary Fund, or a charity of your choice.
