Marie Theresa Pope passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 10, 2016, from a massive stroke. She was born in Cumberland, Maryland, to Victor and Ruth Robinson as one of eleven children.

Marie grew up on a farm in Maryland. She worked at the local hospital during World War II. She married Oliver Pope in 1948. In 1966 they packed up their four kids and moved to California where she worked in retail for many years (Sears and Montgomery Wards). Marie worked at the Santa Cruz Federal Credit Union as a credit counselor before retiring in the early 90's and moved to Colorado. After her husband passed, she moved back to California to live with her daughter Regina.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver Pope; son Michael Pope; daughter Marguerite; grandson James Pope; brothers James (Margaret), Benedict (Phyllis), Paul (Isabell), Leo, Marion (Reba), Victor (Katherine; her sister Marguerite (Charles); and twin brothers who died at birth.

She is survived by her daughters Regina (Robert) Lingl and Rose (Don) Gee, her son Francis (Chris) Pope, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Marie devoted her life to God and family and was a wonderful servant to all.

The memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lompoc, California, on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 1 pm with inurnment on Friday, January 13, 2016, at 1 pm at the Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura, California.
