IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Jane
(Collins) Cornford
February 19, 1948 – April 1, 2025
MARILYN JANE (COLLINS) CORNFORD was born on February 19, 1948, to Herbert and Miriam Bueche. She was born and raised in Texas on a family farm where she learned and embraced the satisfaction of hard work. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 1, 2025.
In 1970, Marilyn came to Vandenberg AFB with her then husband and two small children. She sank her roots into the community of Lompoc where she raised her daughter and blossomed as an entrepreneur. She was the president and partner in the only independently owned Escrow Company on the central coast, Lompoc Valley Escrow. She ran her business, gaining respect from her colleagues in the title, lending and real estate professions while graciously guiding her clients through the stressful tasks of buying and selling real estate.
In 2008 Marilyn married the love of her life, Floyd Cornford. She joined Floyd at his home at Hume Lake Christian Camps for four years before he brought her back to retire in Lompoc. After returning, she enjoyed the pace of a slower life. She had such a sense of style and beauty that was evident in her home and in the lush landscaping she would create.
If you knew Marilyn, you felt loved by her. She was abundantly generous, always thinking of others. She was an encouraging, devoted, nurturing and loving Mom/Nana to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many whom she "adopted" as her own. She loved to cook and was often providing meals for neighbors, friends and family. She was involved in, and dearly loved her church family at Trinity Church of the Nazarene.
Marilyn's pride and joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, Floyd Cornford. She leaves behind her children Mark (Donna) Collins, Mysie (Greg) Radabaugh and sons gifted to her by marriage; Tom (Kim) Cornford, Rich (Susan) Cornford and Rob (Lanette) Cornford. She leaves an amazing legacy of 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren to date who will feel the great void she will leave on this earth. Marilyn is survived by her Sister, Doris Barthold, of Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Marilyn on June 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The service will be at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 500 East North Ave., Lompoc. There will be a reception directly following, also at the church.
