Obituary

Marjorie (Marjie) Browning, 79, of Lompoc, CA passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, in Santa Barbara, CA.

Marjie was born in So. California on Oct. 26, 1942, to Dale Browning and Myrtle Parchman Browning.  She had two younger sisters:  Peggy Browning Simpson (now deceased) and Jeanne Browning Postma of Texas.  During her childhood, Marjie made many cross-country moves with her family.  She graduated from Santa Maria High School.  She then moved to Lompoc, her home for the remainder of her life.

Marjie started working at Lockheed at age eighteen and stayed there until she retired.  Her career at Lockheed spanned over forty years. She started in the Blueprint Crib and worked her way up to Administration. All of Marjie's Lockheed friends and coworkers appreciated her enthusiasm and loyalty to them. She had been retired for almost twenty years, but will still be greatly missed by her friends.

Marjie thoroughly loved her retirement job!  She enjoyed crafting so much that she became a Stampin Up! demonstrator.  She widened her circle of friends to dozens of women and graciously opened her home week after week.  Marjie's Stampin Up! classes were a fun place for friends to gather, share a dessert and cup of coffee (served by Marjie herself and often made from scratch), and craft together for hours on end.  She welcomed everyone and helped each woman grow in her creativity.  Marjie always sat in the same chair at her table where she could see and help each friend.  She was organized and unorganized, fun and funny, and her crafting community will never be the same without her.

Marjie leaves behind her beloved sister Jeanne and brother-in-law Ken, along with her niece Julie Himiker, her two nephews Michael Postma and Dale Simpson, and several cousins: Phil Hays, Richard Parchman, Thomas Parchman, Heidi Cobleigh, and Doris Badger.   She also leaves behind two generations of extended family who fondly referred to her as 'Aunt Marjie'.  She will be lovingly remembered for her generous heart, her great sense of humor, and her truly classic potato salad and deviled eggs. Our family gatherings will not be the same without her, whether it be holiday festivities, birthday celebrations, or summertime barbeques.   Marjie enriched our lives in so many ways. Having her as family was truly a blessing from God.

Marjie was buried at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  A celebration of Marjie's life will be announced at a later date.
