Obituary

Passed away into the loving arms of the Lord on September 10, 2006. Marjorie was born July 3, 1923, in the town of Connellsville, PA, to the late John W. and Anna (Smith) Errett. She graduated from Connellsville High School in 1941 and attended the Pittsburg Stenotype Institute graduating in 1942. After graduation she worked as a court reporter in Pittsburg, PA for the Price and Wage Administration during World War II.

In 1943 she met the love of her life, Earl L. Jones. They were married in Pittsburg on December 26, 1944 and were married 61 years at the time of her passing. Marjorie and Earl lived in Connellsville until moving to Downey, CA in 1952 and lived in the Los Angeles area until moving to Lompoc in 1961. Marjorie worked as a secretary for civil service at Vandenberg Air Force Base until her retirement in 1979.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed a variety of romance and mystery novels. She enjoyed knitting and was a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She was a member of Miguelito Chapter #176, Order of the Eastern Star.

Marjorie was a passionate and loving wife and a devoted and caring mother and grandmother. Despite her many years of pain and suffering she always worried about others, always putting them first. Her generosity and kind heart and spirit were an inspiration to her family. She lived her life with integrity and bravery and will be deeply missed.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Errett and her sister Brenda Davies. She is survived by her husband Earl L. Jones of Lompoc; son Earl D. Jones of Lancaster; daughter Roxanne and her husband Peter Harris of Washington; three grandchildren, Shawna M. Harris, Kenneth L. Harvey and Matthew D. Harris of Washington; great grandchild Alexa Brooke Harvey of Washington; and one sister, Edith A Kott of North Hollywood. Nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania further survive her.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 22, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North "A" Street, Lompoc. Interment will follow at Lompoc Cemetery.
