Mark Eugene Burke, Jr., 81, of Lompoc passed peacefully on June 8, 2009.

Mark was born October 5, 1927 in Central City, PA. He loved participating in high school plays and was known as a fun loving practical joker. After completing his military service, he enrolled at Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Mark was a loyal and passionate Nittany Lion supporter throughout his life.

In May 1955 he married Teresa Margaret Ticcony. The couple settled in Pittsburgh, PA and by April of 1961 had added a son and two daughters to their family.

In 1965 Mark and family elected to leave Pittsburgh for an opportunity in California. They settled in Lompoc and Mark spent the next two decades working for a major aerospace contractor in various Human Resource management roles.

Mark loved all sports. He had a particular fondness for the local high school programs. Above all else, he loved his family. His children and grandchildren were truly center in his life.

Mark was preceded in death by his wife Teresa and brother Tom. He is survived by his sister Mary Barbara D'Alessandro, brother Father Gilbert Burke, daughter Teresa (Tim) McIntyre and daughter Kathleen Vogel both of Lompoc, son Mark (Teresa) Burke of Pleasanton and nine grandchildren.
