Obituary

Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of Mark R. Froelick, born 07/17/1954, in Fairbanks, Alaska, and died 10/05/2023 at the House of Hope Continuing Care in N. Hollywood, CA. We have always been a close-knit family and thus the reason this loss has been extremely painful.

All the R. C. Froelick family siblings know they have lived a life that other kids can only dream of. How could your life not be special if you spent the entire summer and Christmas holiday in Montana swimming, fishing, ice skating, and snow skiing with your grandparents?

Mark learned from two of the best anglers, his father and grandfather. Everywhere he lived he fished, and he gained experience; in Florida he shrimped, crabbed, and used a net to catch mullet, in Alaska he caught salmon, in Montana he caught rainbow trout (Grandpa's fishing boat, fly fishing, and ice fishing during the winter months), at Port San Luis Obispo deep sea fishing for ling and rock cod.

Mark was also an accomplished athlete. Before high school, he took gymnastics and highboard diving classes. During high school, he was "Montana State Gymnastics Champion." Following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy as a communications and water transportation and intelligence specialist. He frequented the ski slopes and gave extreme skier, Shawn White, a run for his money.

He moved to Lompoc in 1970 from Florida with his family and joined the bike club.

In addition to his three siblings, Burton, Deborah, and Gregory, he is survived by Aunt Jean Douglas Froelick of Houston, TX, Uncle Richard Froelick of Carmichael, CA, as well as numerous cousins on both sides of the family in CA, OR, MT, CO, FL, AK, ND, SD, TX, WA, KS, TN and GA.

We will always remember your contagious laugh and positive spirit. RIP

May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face.

May the rain fall softly upon your fields until we meet again.

And may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

It's been a long day without you my friend...And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again...
