Services for Marlene Y. McIntyre, 77, of Lompoc will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Lompoc Ward, 1312 W. Prune Ave., with Bishop Douglas Pike presiding. Burial will follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
Marlene was born April 17, 1931 in Los Angeles, California to Golden and Jessie Scott Portter. She was raised and educated in Los Angeles area, and earlier worked for United Airlines where she had an opportunity to travel. She lived in Santa Barbara before moving to Lompoc in 1980. Marlene received training in the health care profession, and was employed as a private duty nurse for over 15 years within Santa Barbara County. She loved to shop and enjoyed traveling.
She passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Lompoc Skilled & Rehab Center in Lompoc.
She leaves behind her daughter, Lorna Miller of Lompoc; sons, Fred Miller, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kevin Miller and Keith Miller, both of Lompoc, and Felton Ray Willis of Illinois; brothers, Robert Deckard of Los Angeles and Upshire Ellis of Alhambra, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives to treasure her memory. Her brothers, Allen Portter, Charles Portter, and grandson, Dashawn Johnson, preceded her in death.
Visitation hours will be Monday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
