Marron Smith, age 89, a long time resident of Lompoc, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025 in Santa Barbara, California.  Marron was born in Detroit, Michigan to Lena and Devouston Smith.  He was the ninth of 13 children.  Marron graduated from high school in Salem, Arkansas in 1954.  He joined the U.S. Army in 1958 and served in Germany and France. Marron worked at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he met his wife, Camille.  They married in 1967 and had two children, Karyn and Bryon, in Michigan before moving to Northern California due to Marron's transfer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  The family moved to Lompoc in 1976; Marron "Smitty" retired in 1993 with 27 years of Federal Service.

Marron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Camille, their two children, one sister, and other extended family members. When the children were younger, they enjoyed family vacations which often included camping and fishing.  As older adults, Marron and Camille valued time with their children, church family, close friends and planning the next ocean cruise.

Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Vandenberg Village on January 31, 2025 at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marrons's memory to the Capital Fund at Calvary Baptist Church.
