IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha
Garcia
November 25, 1927 – November 19, 2023
Martha passed away peacefully in Las Cruces, New Mexico on November 19, 2023. She was at the home of her daughter, Mary Jane, and her son-in-Law, Mark Greby.
Martha was born in Lompoc, California, on November 25, 1927, to Rose and Frank Garcia. Her father, Frank, passed away shortly after her birth. Her mother, Rose, later married John LeCon.
Martha married Joe (Pepe) Salcido in 1945 and they were married until Joe's death in September, 1955. They had three daughters: Rose Hernandez of Citrus Heights, California; Mary Jane Greby of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Virginia Belvedere of Mill City, Oregon. Martha married Frank Garcia in 1963.
Martha worked many various jobs in Lompoc. She worked as a carhop at Ted's Drive-In, in the fields and the packing shed, Bodger's seeds as a pollinator, Woolworth's lunch counter, and as an aide at Los Berros School.
She loved to joke around and have fun. Some of her favorite activities were having lunch with her friends and bowling, music, and dancing.
After the deaths of both her mother and husband, who both died in the same year, Martha lived in Lompoc by herself for ten years, after which she moved in with her daughter Mary Jane due to advancing Lewy Body Dementia (a very happy, carefree dementia for Martha!). She kept her home in Lompoc, commuting and part-time living in Lompoc as well as in Utah, Alaska, and New Mexico.
Martha is survived by her three daughters, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.
The memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, January 5, 2023, at 10 am, followed by interment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
