Martha C. Turocy of Lompoc passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2006 in Santa Maria at the age of 88.
Martha was born November 25, 1917 to Joseph and Sophie Boris in Stubenville, Ohio. She moved to Cleveland when she was 16 years of age. She graduated from high school and started her family there. She settled in California in 1969 when her family moved to Huntington Beach. Formerly of McCloud, she has been a resident of Lompoc since 2003.
Martha was a member of the Altar Society of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in McCloud, and active in the Cub Scout organization. As a homemaker, she loved to cook, sew and garden.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Michael Turocy in 1992, and her son Robert Turocy in 1990. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Nancy Turocy of North Royalton, Ohio, Patricia Turocy of Moreno Valley, Daniel and Lindy Turocy of Lompoc, David and Teresa Turocy of Mount Shasta, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the recitation of the rosary at 6:30 pm on Monday, November 6, in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. The mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church celebrated by Monsignor Fitzgerald. Interment will be in the Mount Shasta Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
