Martin H. Shepard was born July 17, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York to Herman and Bessie Shepard. He was a resident of Lompoc since 1972. He passed away at his home on July 14, 2014, at the age of 80. Martin had two sisters and six brothers.

Martin started his military career in 1948. He retired from the Army and Air Force after 22 years of service. He was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran. He then worked as a civil servant for the postal service for 18 years and retired in 1982.

Martin is survived by his second wife Anna "Jackie" Shepard, two daughters, Elizabeth Barrett and Donna Belledeau, both of Belleville, Illinois and two grandchildren.

Martin was a member of American Legion for more than 30 years and Lompoc Elks Lodge #2274 for over 29 years.

At his request no service will be held. Cremation will be followed by inurnment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. The arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
