Mary Balaam of Lompoc died Friday, November 8, 2013, at the age of 82.
Mary was born in Santa Barbara on June 6, 1931 to Norman and Jessie Kinder Oliver. She was raised in Solvang, California and graduated from Santa Ynez High School in 1949.
Mary married David Balaam and moved to Lompoc. She was a member of Native Daughters of California and Catholic Daughters. Mary was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by sisters Jane Reid of New Mexico and her twin Beatrice Witherspoon of Utah; her children, David (Kristi), John (JP) Balaam and Mary Jane (Mike) Woodfin; ten grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Oliver and husband Dave Balaam.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17th from 4-8 pm at Starbuck-Lind Chapel with the evening vigil at 6pm. Father Tom Cook will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Monday, November 18 at 10 am at La Purisima Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
