Obituary

Mary Louise Davenport was the firstborn daughter of Jerry and Beulah Bluitt. Born Mary Louise Bluitt on July 19,1934, and raised in DeRidder, Louisiana, "Louise" was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

Louise met her late husband, YZ Davenport, in elementary school in DeRidder. YZ enlisted in the United States Air Force and the family spent years traveling the globe, and serving the country. YZ was stationed in Japan, and the family joined him at his assignment to Homestead Air Force Base, in Miami. He was again sent remote to Newfoundland, and the family remained in Miami during his time there.

In 1967, the Davenports were assigned to Vandenberg Air force Base, then stationed at Incirlik Air Force Base, in Adana, Turkey. They returned to Vandenberg after a 3 year stint in Turkey, finally retiring and settling in Vandenberg Village in 1974 .
YZ and Louise had four children, who were the center of their affections: Cynthia, Reginald, Ramona and Jerrie. She and YZ were fiercely proud of the accomplishments of their eleven smart, talented and kind grandchildren.

Wherever the family landed, Lousie epitomized "blooming where you are planted". She was active in the community, serving with Protestant Women of the Chapel, as a Cheerleading coach, Brownie leader, and bible study leader, as well as on many committees at her churches over the years. Louise was a Mother and member of Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ in Santa Maria, California.
Louise accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. She had prayer partners all over the world, and was a tireless prayer warrior for her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the special focus of their Grandma's fervent prayers, and most importantly, the Lord's answers.

Louise passed away on Sunday December 20th, 2016. She was preceded in glory by her husband YZ; her eldest daughter Cynthia Gilliams; grand-daughter Kristin Gilliams; and brothers Zorro Bluitt, Lonnie Ray Bluitt and Willie Bluitt.

Louise leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: her brothers Oscar (Joyce Ann) Bluitt and Andre (Claire) Bluitt; sisters Leatrice (Charles) Knox, Carolyn (Paul) Connor, Barbara Langston, Sharon Newsome, and Eartha Bluitt; son Reginald Davenport; daughters Ramona (Charles) Rogers and Jerrie Davenport (Willie) Williams; grandchildren Glenyce (William) Marsaw, Adije Nelson, Sarah (William) Tucker, Ashley Gilliams, Jillian Davenport, Daniel Rogers, Rebekah Rogers, Rachael Williams, Micah Williams, and Hannah Williams; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Jacob, Chloe, Phineas and Arielle; and a host of treasured relatives and dear friends. She also greatly loved her "Granddog", Sultaan.

Her Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, December 3, 2016, 2 pm at True Vine Bible Fellowship, 533 S. Avalon Avenue, in Lompoc. Repast at Calvary Baptist Church, 3355 Constellation Road, in Vandenberg Village, immediately following the service. Final Interment will be in DeRidder Louisiana. Arrangements under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
