Mary Evelyn Hart, 90, of Redding, California, died June 9, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Mary was born November 26, 1919, at Milligan College, Tennessee, the eldest child of George Thomas Payne and Ada Louise Gouge. She Graduated from Happy Valley High School in Carter County, Tennessee, and attended East Tennessee State University. She was married to Ross Hart for 46 years until his death in 1988.
She is survived by a son Thomas Hart of Anderson, California, a daughter Patricia Brommelsiek of Springfield, Oregon, four grandchildren, a sister Doris of Fort Worth, Texas, and a brother Nathaniel of Stoney Creek, Tennessee.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was an artist and a member of the Lompoc Valley Art Association. Mary and Ross were long-term members of the First United Methodist Church of Lompoc.
Memorial services for Mrs. Hart will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Lompoc. She has been interred next to her husband in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. The final arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
