Mary A. Montoya of Lompoc died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the age of 86, at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Juan Montoya.
Mary was born November 30, 1925 in Lamy, New Mexico to Bernardino and Apolonita Martinez. She has been a resident of Lompoc since 1948.
Mary was a homemaker who loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She loved to crochet and read before her eyesight failed her.
Mary and Juan had six children; John, Trinie, Priscilla, Jeannie (Henry) Gonzalez, Barbara and Melissa (Jessie) Niver. She is survived by her grandchildren John, Jeff, Tammy, Emily, Ron E., Anthony, Teresa, Michele, Steven, Agustin, Juan, Andy, Andrea, Matthew and Emily Isabella, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
The visitation will be Friday, October 12, from 6 to 8 pm with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Father Tom Cook will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Saturday, October 13, at 9am at La Purisima Catholic Church. The burial will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
