Mary Jean Silva, 77, of Lompoc passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011. Mary was born on December 12, 1934 in Lompoc to Larry and Mary Costa. Mary was raised in Lompoc and and was trained as a licensed vocation nurse. She married John T. Silva Jr., she was a homemaker and helped run the family business, the Maytag Appliance Center in Lompoc.
She proudly bred and raised champion Pomeranian dogs. She and John enjoyed traveling to dog shows in their RV. Her dogs won many awards that she was very proud of. She was well known for her doll making and was active in the doll clubs of Lompoc and Santa Maria.
Mary is survived by her husband of 37 years, John T. Silva, Jr., her sons, Bob Andrews of Athens, Georgia, Dana Silva of Kansas City, Missouri, Nicholas Silva of Lompoc, step-daughter, Patricia Silva-Zeitler of Lompoc and step-son, John T. Silva III of Palmdale, California, and seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Latter Day Saints at 1312 West Prune Ave on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at noon. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
