1943-2010
Mary Barton Walker "Mary B." died peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2010. She was born in Santa Barbara on January 20, 1942, and was raised in Lompoc.
She is survived by her sister; Nancy (Showers) Havlick of Sloughhouse, California and Lynne (Showers) Davis of Berkeley, California, nieces and nephews; Cathy Hubbard, Karen and Mark Gary, Virginia Corbitt, Jon Havlick, Rebecca and Junzo Oshima, Stephanie Davis, Trevor Davis, and Jane and Sheba Ward; grandnieces and grandnephews; Christina Corbitt, Stephanie Corbitt, Brian Gary, Jennifer Gary, Amanda Aigner, Tamon Oshima, Maya Oshima, Kai Oshima, and Sadie Ward.
She was preceded in death by her mother Virginia Ramos, her father Theodore Showers, and her sister Beth Showers.
Mary was retired from Johns Manville Corporation and was an active member of the JM Quarter Century Club while she lived in Lompoc. She was an avid horse enthusiast and a mentor to many other horse lovers. She loved all animals except snakes.
A memorial service will be held at the Starbuck and Lind Mortuary at 11 am on May 15, 2010, Pastor Chuck Arnold presiding. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
