Mary L. Younglove
1933-2008
Mary L. Younglove was born June 17, 1933 to Cornelius and Christina Gallant in Cardigan, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She was born the seventh child out of ten children. She came to the United States to live with her sister Margaret Finnegan in Boston, Massachusetts in 1951, where she met Charles Younglove. They fell in love and got married September 26, 1954. She became a naturalized United States citizen in 1960. Mary had 6 children while traveling around the world accompanying her husband. They moved to Vandenberg AFB in 1969. She worked at Vandenberg AFB, Civil Service, and retired in 1995 after 24 years.
Since then she has enjoyed traveling to her hometown on Prince Edward Island to see friends and family, taking a cruise to Alaska with her oldest sister Margaret, and road trips with Jan riding the train to Nashville and New Orleans. She also enjoyed sitting outside watching the birds and drinking coffee with her friends Jean and Jan who she missed dearly. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed doing puzzles and taking walks with her son's dog Aja. She was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
She is survived by four sons; Charles in Kuwait, Robert in Virginia, Greg and Paul in Lompoc, and her daughter Laura Hamby in Lompoc, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and two sisters, Margaret Finnegan of Needham, Massachusetts and Bernadette Gallant of Rustico, Canada. She was preceded in death by husband Charles and youngest son Mark.
The visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A memorial mass will be held in her honor Monday, August 18, at 8:30 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Monsignor Fitzgerald officiating. A small service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the mortuary followed by the interment at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
