Masuko "Marjie" Russell lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the age of 83.  Born Masuko Miyaji in Fukuoka, Japan, she was the youngest of eleven children.

Marjie married Earl Albright in 1958 and moved to the United States to receive better medical treatment for tuberculosis.  She became a naturalized citizen in 1964 while living in Hawaii.

Marjie had worked as a barber in Japan and after moving to Lompoc, she continued that career at Vandenberg Air Force Base.  She married her late husband, Michael Russell, in 1978 and continued working as a barber while opening a Japanese restaurant in Lompoc in 1986.  Even after closing the restaurant, she continued as a barber at Vandenberg Air Force Base for many years.

She leaves behind her son Koji Fujino and daughter in-law Chikako Namura.

A service and reception are scheduled for Saturday, April 15 at 11:00 am at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
