Melissa Diane Ross of Lompoc died Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the age of 59.

Melissa was born Oct 23, 1962, to Bobbie and Clarence Tippens in California.  A 21-year resident of Lompoc, she loved animals and was employed for many years as a veterinary technician.  She enjoyed art, photography and painting.  She was witty and had a dry sense of humor. She loved the beach and life in California, where she lived most of her life.

Melissa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sydney and Matthew Johnson of Plainfield, Illinois, her son Andrew Ross who is deployed with the United States Navy, her sisters Jo, Linda and Jett, and her brother Wally.  Her first grandchild is expected soon and will be named Eleanor Ray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Ronnie and Rick.

She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother.  A woman who consistently gave back to animals by being a vet tech and rescuing countless animals.  A loving and caring mother who cared for her children more than anything.  Her love will be felt through her children and grandchildren until they are reunited with her.

The memorial service will be held Friday, June 17, at 1pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.  The inurnment will be in the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
