Mercedes F. Moore of Lompoc died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the age of 99. Mercedes was born April 8, 1908 in Montecito, California. Mercedes spent her early childhood years growing up with her brothers and sisters in Montecito prior to settling in Lompoc. Mercedes met and married Clifford "Pete" Moore whom she was happily married to for over 15 years until his death in 1963. Mercedes was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. In her later years, Mercedes enjoyed walking about town and attending church services. Mercedes was active in Catholic Daughters for many years and a member for over 50 years.

Mercedes is survived by two nieces ~ Marion Gutierrez of San Luis Obispo and Linda Olivas of Lancaster, California as well as by many great nieces and nephews. Mercedes was preceded in death by her husband Pete, three brothers Cleo, Edward and Charles Olivas, sister Lucy Valenzuela and niece Catherine Van Dyke.

A prayer vigil will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 7:00 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at La Purisima Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
