Merle Pfau went to join the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2015. Merle was born on October 17, 1921, in Holyoke, Colorado, to Adolph and Helen Pfau. He had five brothers and two sisters.
In 1943 he married his much-loved wife, Betty. To this union was born three children: Terry, Michael and Jill.
Merle served in the United States Navy in WWII and was discharged in 1945. After the war, Betty and Merle made their home in Colorado and later moved to Nebraska. In 1965 they moved to Lompoc as Merle was transferred to Vandenberg Air Force Base. Lompoc was always a special place to call home. Merle loved the Lord, Betty, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He loved the church and was dedicated to serving. Merle was an avid sports fan, whether it was coaching, playing or watching.
He was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Merle praised the Lord for a blessed life. The last few months of Merle's life were spent at the Comprehensive Care Center where he received loving care from each member on staff. We also want to thank the people and staff at Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
Memorial Service will be held 11 am, Friday, February 6, 2014, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
Please make all donations to Hospice of Santa Barbara County.
