Michael Patrick O’Brien, 66, passed away on April 30th, 2026. Born in Newmarket, Cambridge, England on October 14th, 1959, to Betty O’Brien and Patrick O’Brien, Michael and his parents moved to Vandenberg Air Force Base in 1961. As a military family, they spent time back in England, Las Vegas, and other bases before settling in Lompoc, California with his younger siblings Steven and Catherine.

Michael in his youth was a skateboarder and a sensitive lover of all animals, often finding injured or suffering birds or lizards and rehabilitating them back into the wild (although he’d never let on about this side of himself).

In his adulthood, he was a premier welder and that’s how he supported his young family throughout the rest of his life.

Michael is survived by his mother Betty, brother Steven (Jenny) and sister Catherine along with his children, Candace Franco (Jimmy), Ariane Bookwalter (Josh), Audra, and Shane. His beloved grandchildren the lights of his life Jaiden, Camryn, Cash, and Liam, and three nephews Rudy, Raymond and Blake. He is preceded in death by his father, Pat.
