"Skip" Michael T. Skipworth passed away at his home on November 8, 2010.
Michael was born on March 9, 1948 to Wilhelmena Skipworth in Providence, R.I. Michael served a short term in the U.S. Army and moved to California in 1971. He had a restaurant business, was a shade tree mechanic, active churchgoer, and widely known as the BBQ cook at Poloni's.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Fran and Andy Winston of Lompoc; nieces, Darlene Lomans and her husband Eddie of Virginia, Doreen Brown of Lompoc, Terri Owens of Lompoc; nephew Andy Winston III and his wife Jenny of Virginia; and numerous great-nieces, nephews and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Wilhelmena Skipworth (Nana), brother Fredrick Skipworth, great niece Naomi Brown, nephew in law Alonzo Owens, and niece Patricia Gibson.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Building on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. Pot luck dishes are encouraged and welcomed.
