Obituary

On November 30, 2019, our beloved Minnie N. Apodaca 91, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side. Minnie was born December 23, 1927, and is the youngest of 11 children. She was born to Julio and Ramona Becerra and was a proud life-long resident of Lompoc. Minnie graduated Santa Barbara Beauty College in 1946, and worked at many local hair salons including 25 years at The Hair Em where she helped manage, and the last few years at Peggy's Hair Worx and Hair Illusions, up until she retired on April 7, 2011. She was honored by John H. Linn, the mayor of Lompoc, with a certificate of special recognition from the city of Lompoc, which she was proud to receive. Minnie had many other accomplishments she was proud of, like her home she had built for herself and her family. She was faithful to her family traditions, everyday life and religious beliefs. Minnie married her husband Roberto Gomez Apodaca at the age of 20, then shortly after had 3 children together. In Minnie's later years she enjoyed camping every summer with family at RV parks. She enjoyed company and visits from family that would visit from out of town and would enjoy cooking for them. She was known by her family for making the best homemade tortillas and salsa and everything else was just as great because she "made it with love."
