MITCHELL G. SIEFE 1913 – 2011 Mitchell was born on April 13, 1913, in Kansas City, Missouri, to George and Shaheena Siefe.


Mitchell graduated from Manual Training High School at age 17. He met Walt Disney later, who was a cartoonist with the Kansas City Star Newspaper. He moved to Los Angeles, California, with his mother, driving out on Route 66. He attended and graduated from Los Angeles City College. He worked at Wrigley Field and Catalina Island Steamers. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1941 and left military service in 1945 at the conclusion of World War II.


The next nine years Mitchell worked for the Postal Service, and in 1955 he joined the Equitable Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1980.


Mitchell married Iva Haddad in 1955. She was a teacher of the deaf. They lived in East Whittier where their three sons were born. His family moved to Santa Barbara in 1968. Iva passed away in 1990.


Mitchell's proudest period was when all three sons, Michael, Patrick, and Vincent became Eagle Scouts and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Vincent later graduated from the University of California at San Francisco and is now a dentist in Lompoc.

Mitchell resided in his home in Santa Barbara until 2001 when he moved to Lompoc to reside next to his son Vincent, daughter-in-law Angela, and grandchildren Andriana, Alexander and Christopher. His grandchildren Vincent M. and Christopher P. live in Santa Barbara with his daughter-in-law Ruth. His son, Michael, passed away in 2005.


Before his death, Mitchell wrote a letter of gratitude to his family stating, in part, "Words alone cannot express the gratitude and appreciation I have for you. Your love and care have allowed me to live a long, pleasant life."


Mitchell is survived by his son Vincent K. Siefe and his wife Angela of Lompoc, daughter-in-law Ruth Siefe of Santa Barbara, son Patrick L. Siefe of Santa Barbara, and grandchildren Andriana I., Alexandra E., Christopher M., Vincent M., and Christopher P. Siefe.


The funeral service will be on Friday, January 6, 2012, at 2 pm in the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary chapel in Lompoc. Immediately after the services family and friends are welcomed to the Siefe home. Mitchell will be buried next to his wife in the Santa Barbara Cemetery on Monday, January 9th with a private family service.
