Murphy Wayne Patrick, Sr., born September 18, 1944 in Bakersfield, California went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2020 in Lompoc, California.  He was preceded in death by his parents Elby Leon Patrick and Dorothy Aline (Hicks); brothers Charles Leon Patrick, Milton Cecil Patrick, and sister Sandra "Patty" Helen Matthews (Patrick); and son Murphy Wayne Patrick Jr.

He is survived by wife of 28 years Florence Mae Patrick (Lybrand); daughters Caryn Lannette Humphrey (Patrick) & husband John, Kimberly Roxanne McKee (Patrick) and husband Michael; stepsons Perry Dean Self and wife Peggy (Weiss), and Bryan Gregory Self and wife Rebeckah (Parsons); grandchildren Casandra Marie Humphrey, Joshua Scott Humphrey, Ashanti Cheyanne Marie Humphrey, Celina Patrick (Parker), Daniel Jacob Self and wife Conly (Basham), Sean Thomas Russell Self and wife Alesondra "Alee"(Lenox), Christopher Michael Alverson, and Kayla Renee Covington (Alverson) and husband Joe; and one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Murphy served in the Air Force from 1962 to 1966 and then worked for ITT on Vandenberg AFB as a countdown and timing technician for 36 years.  He was very active in his church LMBC Lompoc and proudly wore the name Papa Murph and was rumored to be able to fix anything. He was well known for being the best hugger in the West. He enjoyed tinkering in the shop and working with wood. A great sense of humor he shared with everyone he met and knew no strangers.  He is greatly loved and missed, but it is not goodbye just see you later.  We will meet again in the great by and by.

Celebration of Life at 1pm, Feb 29th, 2020 - Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 Farroll Ave, Arroyo Grande.  In lieu of flowers please donate to Alzheimers Association or American Diabetes Association.
