IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicolo
Agate
August 16, 1934 – January 31, 2024
Nicolo Agate died Wednesday, January 31, at the age of 89.
"Nick," as he was known, was born August 16, 1934, in Marsala, Sicily, Italy, to Gaspare and Francesca Agate. After completing his education, he served in the Italian military. He was later employed as a mechanic.
Nick immigrated to the United States as a young man, first living in Los Angeles where he was employed as a taylor at LAX. In 1968 he returned to Sicily and married Caterina Coddretto. As soon as her immigration visa was ready, they moved to Los Angeles and opened a pizza place. After opening another pizza place in Chicago they settled in Lompoc, establishing the successful La Botte restaurant. Together they lived the American dream and made a good life for their family. He was an honorable man who taught his family to love and respect customers, to be proud, honest and kind.
Nick is survived by his wife Caterina, his daughters Francesca Figuereo and Marlena Agate, both of Lompoc, his grandchildren Joshua, Paul, Jordan, Amayzing, and Marcus, his great grandson Luca Nicolo, and his sons-in-law Ryne and Jeff. He was preceded in death by his son Stefano in 2022. He was loved and respected by all his extended family in Chicago and Italy.
The celebration of life will be Wednesday, February 7, at 10 am, in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, followed by interment in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will follow at La Botte Restaurant.
