Nina M. Gabel passed away on April 13, 2015, at the age of 99, in Lompoc. She was born in San Francisco on March 4, 1916, and was raised in Sacramento by Katherine and Matt Puliz. She married Edward J Gabel on June 13, 1942. They were married for 68 years. She and her husband moved from Sacramento to Santa Barbara and after retiring moved to Nevada City, back to Sacramento and eventually to Lompoc to be near family.
Nina worked for the State of California as a Stenographer for 24 years and retired in 1978. She enjoyed fishing with her husband in the Sierras, was an avid tennis player and devoted 49ers fan. She was also, known for her handmade all-occasion cards.
She is survived by her three children, Edward (Bonnie) Gabel, Joan (Donald) Holloway, and Francine Gabel, her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and brother Matt Puliz.
She is predeceased by her husband Edward and brothers George and Henry.
On behalf of Nina the family would like to thank her Lompoc Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center family for their kindness and a special thanks to her favorite caregivers, you know who you are. She will be remembered for singing the song "I don't know why I love you like I do, I don't know why, I just do." She is now singing it with the angels.
