Obituary

After a long and very brave struggle with cancer, Norma died peacefully in her home on June 23, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones.

Our beloved mom, Norma was born on May 5, 1935 in Bronxville, New York to John and Edith Crane. She graduated from Eastchester High School and went on to complete a nursing program at Saint Luke's

Hospital in New York city, attaining the achievement of Registered Nurse.

Norma married her high school sweetheart John 'Jack' Chierichetti on October 20, 1956, in Scarsdale, New York. They lived in Tuckahoe (New York), Plainfield and Sommerville (New Jersey). In 1958, Jack's employment with Johns-Manville (Celite) brought the couple to California where they started and raised their family.

After first arriving in Lompoc, Norma worked at Lompoc Hospital and later for physicians in private practice, but raising her four young sons soon became Norma's top priority-- Jeff, John, Jim and Paul kept her very busy with baseball, basketball, football, Cub Scouts and other activities.

Norma enjoyed participating in philanthropic activities. She was a member of civic groups such as Alpha Club, Republican Women's Club, Meals on Wheels and Women In Chamber.

In the Chierichetti home, the kitchen was, and always will be the 'heart of the home'. No doubt Norma's love for cooking has been shared with her four boys. She found great joy in preparing meals for those she loved, and that love will be shared with others always.

Norma is survived by sons Jeffrey of Thousand Oaks; John and wife Janet, of Mission Viejo; James and wife Shannon of Port Angeles, Washington; and Paul and wife Mary of Yorba Linda, California. Grandchildren: Kimberly, Christy, Lauren, Paulina, Joshua, Joseph, Nathaniel, and Johnny and sister Martha Messenkopf of Yorktown Heights, NY who was an immense help during a very trying ordeal. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents, John and Edith Crane and sister Edith.

The visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday, June 26 to end with a rosary beginning at 6 pm the Chapel of StarbuckLind Mortuary. Father Santos will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Saturday, June 27 at 10 AM at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. The interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Marian Hospice, 1400 East Church Street, Santa Maria, CA 93454, or Lompoc Meals on Wheels, 123 North D Street, Lompoc.
