The Ries family would like to say goodbye to their loving husband and father Oliver "Ollie" Ries, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Elizabeth "Betty" Ries, three children (spouses), Cynthia (Forest), Oliver III (Courtnie), and Mark (Lorie); five grandchildren, Oliver IV, Caleb, Logan, Abigail, and Brody. Ollie was characterized as a man of his word, and was known for his letters to the editor and his abundance of emails. Ollie was born and educated in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and moved to California in the 1950's then to Lompoc in 1971. He enjoyed spending every minute possible with his grandchildren and boasted about them constantly. He loved hunting, fishing, flying, and taking his grandchildren for rides on his quad. Dad we love you and we will miss you always.

He died Wednesday, December 2, 2009.


A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
