Obituary
Orris Rehm Leone, age 86, passed away at her home in Lompoc, California, Saturday, September 17, 2011.
Orris was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on February 15, 1925 to Floyd and Lula McMurry. At the age of 18, Orris met and married Allen F. Rehm before moving to Hawthorne, California where they raised their four children. After the death of her husband Allen, she married Russell Leone and has been retired in Lompoc for the past 22 years. She loved this little valley and the kindness of the community.
Orris also loved gardening, and oil painting, but most of all she loved to travel by motorhome with her husband Russ throughout the United States and Canada visiting several state and national parks and seeing friends and relatives along the way.
She was also known for her great cooking and baking. Many wonderful memories were made around her dining room table sharing meals she prepared for countless friends and family.
She was a member of the Lompoc Hospital Women's Auxiliary, the Widow and Widower's Club, Lompoc California Women's Connection, and a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Orris is survived by her four children and their spouses. Her daughters, Donna, Cathy and Steve Hoard, Mary and Ken Jackson, and son Kevin and Helen Rehm. She is also survived by her four step-children, Vincent Leone, Philip Leone, Russell Leone, Jr., and Anna Struven. Orris was a proud and loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A rosary is scheduled for Thursday, September 29, 7:00 p.m. at the Queen of Angels Church and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 11:00 a.m. at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 3495 Rucker Road, Lompoc, CA 93436. The celebrant will be Reverend John G. Fitzgerald, MSG. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City the following day, Saturday, October 1, 2011, at 12 noon. Officiant will be Rev. Msgr. John F. Barry, Pastor from the American Martyrs Catholic Church.
