Oscar D. Smith Jr., 84, of Lompoc, passed away On Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Oscar was born on June 30, 1927 in Upland, California to Oscar (Sr.) and Inez Smith. He married Betty Gene Parr in 1948 and they had one son, Daniel.

Oscar served in the United States Army and made his vocation in insurance business. He retired after 22 years with Metropolitan Life insurance Company as a manager in 1973. Oscar and Betty moved to Lompoc in 1987 from Santa Barbara. He especially enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Oscar is survived by his wife Betty, brother, Roger Lee Smith of Morro Bay, California, his son, Daniel Smith, grandchildren; Todd Smith and Chelsea Smith, and great-grandchildren; Alexa, Kailey, Reina and Briella. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Kelly Smith and Curtis Smith.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10am the Pavilion of Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Duane Armstrong of the Trinity Nazarene Church of Lompoc and military honors provided by the California State Honor Guard.
