In loving memory of Oxalida LaBosco who passed away peacefully on October 8, 2009, at 1:55 p.m. at Serenity House in Santa Barbara. Oxalida has been a Lompoc resident for the past 19 years and has always loved her home here. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and sister. She truly enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and was known for her large family gatherings where all were welcome. She made friends everywhere she went and was known for her generous and giving nature. All who met her were touched by her goodness, her love for all things beautiful, and the loving care she provided.
Oxalida was a dedicated mother and grandmother, born and raised in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil, on October 12, 1937. She immigrated to New York City in her early twenties where she worked for the airlines and traveled the world. She was a very special person who will be remembered by many for the boundless love she had for her family and friends (so many of her friends considered Oxalida as family), her independent nature, and her spirit of love, compassion and sensitivity.
For the past fifteen years Oxalida has been fighting congestive heart failure and diabetes with grace and dignity. Although physically damaged, her heart was bigger than life itself, and only grew as she gave all that she could in her later years. She fought many gallant health battles, but always maintained her decorum as she aged gracefully in a way that would make anyone proud.
Oxalida is survived by one sister, Dilennia Sousa, of Rancho Cucamunga, by her two daughters, Tanya Savidis and Brandi (Daniel) Guerrero of Lompoc and grandchildren, including Bradley Andrew Nolasco McElmurry Savidis and LillyBelle Princess Karissa Savidis Cheney, and Bryon, Kaseede, and Josalyn Guerrero all of Lompoc.
A Memorial Mass will be at La Purisima Catholic Church at a later time. Burial will be at Lompoc Cemetery on Monday, October 12th at 3:00 pm. where Oxalida will be buried alongside her mother, Noemi Nolasco, and sisters Fahne O'Connell and Carla Lima. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Ling Mortuary.

you have received,
But the blessings
you have shared.
We love you and will always know you are looking down on us from heaven, and you will always be in our hearts.
