Paul Robert Childs, Jr. a long-time resident of Lompoc, passed away Saturday the 3rd of January 2015 at Marion Medical Center in Santa Maria.

Born in Boscobel, Wisconsin, Paul lived in various parts of the country as a child with his parents until moving to Lompoc in 1960. He graduated from Lompoc High School in 1961, attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and graduated with degrees in Math and Physics in 1965. He also attended Golden Gate University earning degrees in Business Management.

He was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. After being honorably discharged he returned to Lompoc and worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base where he retired from ITT and retired again from Raytheon Goleta where he was a Senior Software Engineer in the Electronic Warfare Division.

Paul loved being with his family and entertaining family members in his newly remodeled backyard, driving his beloved GT350 Shelby as well as he loved sailing a 38 foot sailboat in the Caribbean and going on cruises every summer with his wife and daughter.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Esther (Teddy), daughter Christina Michelle Childs, sisters Sue Ann Anselmo, Karen Childs, Carol Childs, Janice (David) Brown and brother Arby Childs as well as nieces Karen Childs, Stephanie Brown and nephew James Childs.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Saint Jude Children's Hospital or the Salvation Army.

Memorial services will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11 am.
