Paul H. Lynes, 95, of Lompoc passed away Monday, August 24, 2009. Paul was born to Richard and Julia Lynes in Morris, Illinois on October 15, 1913. He would later marry Sabina Werner and they would have three girls, Elaine, Paula and Mary. Paul served in the United States Navy in WWII. He worked in civil service for 35 years before retiring. Paul enjoyed reading, yard work and traveling as well as hunting and fishing in his earlier years. He was a 63 year member of the American Legion, life member of the VFW, and former member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Paul is survived by his three daughters, Elaine Martin, Paula (Harold) Ginsberg, and Mary Lynes, all of Lompoc; two grandsons, Steven (Marta) Lynes, Sr. and Joshua Howell; four great grandchildren, Stephani, Cathleen, Steven Jr., and Paul Lynes II; and numerous nieces and nephews in Illinois. He was preceded in death by wife, Sabina and siblings, Regina Murphy, Marvin Lynes, Helen Fraley, Robert Lynes, and Richard Lynes.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Reverend Steve Petty presiding, a visitation will be held in the hour prior to the service. Internment will follow the service at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery will military honors.
Paul was a loving family man who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
