Paul Monroe Mize was escorted to heaven May 31, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Texarkana, Texas, August 6,1952. His parents were Carl Monroe and Louella Mize. He was a beloved husband to Sheila Mize and an amazing father to Kenneth (Krystle) and Russell Mize. His patriotism was second to none serving his country for 21 years in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1995 at the rank of TSgt. He began a second career in the aerospace industry with Lockheed Martin, VAFB.
Paul passed the torch to his two sons, who also served their country, upholding a family tradition. Paul had a true passion for war history and could strike up a conversation at any given time. His generosity toward his family was constant, always expressing his love and being there for them. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with friends. He was an amazing barbecuer!
He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and expressed a passion for helping those in need. He was a kind man! He is still loved and will be missed by so many. God blessed him with a new home in heaven and being reunited with family and friends who have gone before him.
Paul is survived by his wife and sons, his twin sister Carla Farmer, sisters Tena Mize and Judy Stith (David Hershberger) and brother Greg Mize. Pepaw loved his grandchildren, Jasmine Mize, Logen Monroe Mize, Khloe Anne Mize and Annabelle Grace Mize. He is also survived by his extended family, Bixby Calderwood (Maureen), Susan Gustafson (Roy) and Robert Calderwood (Lisa). Paul was blessed with numerous nephews and nieces and he loved them all.
Paul's memorial will take place Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, 123 North A Street, Lompoc California, with a reception following to celebrate Paul's life at the Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building, 100 East Locust Avenue, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
In honor of Paul's wishes, his ashes will be buried with military honors at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, CA, Monday June 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for all the love and prayers for Paul and his family. We felt those prayers and they continue to carry us through this journey of losing such an amazing man.
