Phoebe Louise Smith, age 79, passed away December 4, 2007 at her home in Lompoc.
Phoebe was born December 30, 1927 in Caldwell, Idaho to William and Agnes Blenkinsop. In 1977 she came to Lompoc and made it her home. She married William A. Smith, Jr. in 1953 during his service in the air force. This provided her the opportunity to live in several different states and countries. She was a devoted homemaker to her family. In her later years, she enjoyed travel, jigsaw puzzles, needlepoint, and embroidery. She was also an avid reader. In addition, much of her time was spent volunteering at Second Time Around, a local thrift store.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Butch Shaw of Santa Maria, son Kerry Smith of Rome, New York, sisters Mary Baldwin of Idaho and Roberta "Bobby" Silver of Florida, brother Robert Blenkinsop of California, granddaughter Christa Crouse and her husband Christopher, grandson James "Jay" Smith, great-granddaughter Alyssa Crouse, great-grandson Jared Crouse, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes Blenkinsop, son, James Gregory Smith, brothers, William "Billy" and James "Jimmy" Blenkinsop.
In honor of her wishes, no public services will be held. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.
