Rachel Livingood Jones passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10,2007 at the age of 90.
She was born on April 14, 1916 in Graysville, Pennsylvania to John and Frances Cook Livingood. During her life, Rachel graduated from Waynesburg College in 1936 and worked as a teacher for several years including a job at Mel High from 1956-1958 in Melbourne, Florida. She was hired by the Boeing Company as an Engineering Aide in 1958, and was employed there for over 20 years. After transferring to Lompoc in 1962, she continued working for Boeing while completing her Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Chapman College in 1969. After her retirement in 1978, Rachel opened
her own Family Counseling Service from her home, where she helped many individuals and families for many years. She volunteered at Shelter Services for Women for eight years, and was a member of the Board of Mental Health Association and the Lompoc Valley Republican Women's Club.
Rachel was greeted in heaven by her parents, as well as her brother, Arthur Livingood and son, Richard Jones. She is survived by her beloved companion of 42 years Capt. Frank Rile, USN Ret.; brother, William Livingood and sister, Sara Buchanan; sons, Roland (Patricia) and Robert (Linda) Jones and daughter-in-law Donna Jones; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
