Raymond H. Diaz II
Ray Diaz was born on October 14, 1930 to Ramon and Gavina Diaz in San Luis Obispo and passed away on August 9, 2010, at the Lompoc Convalescent Care Center. He lived the majority of his life in Lompoc and attended local schools. He was a Korean War era veteran serving in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps. Ray originally joined the California National Guard and loved to attend their annual reunions.
He was a member a local union and worked as a heavy equipment operator in private industry and the federal government. He enjoyed local sports and frequently attended high school football and baseball games. He was a member of La Purisima Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion.
Ray was a preceded in death by his wife Aurora and leaves behind a daughter Victoria Donnellan, a granddaughter, his sisters: Connie Rojas, Josie Martinez, Rosie Martinez, and his brothers: Camy Diaz and Ed Diaz along with numerous nephews and nieces.
A Rosary will be said for him at 7 pm on Wednesday, August 11, in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Private interment will take place at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
