Raymond Glen Drake
1940 – 2009

Raymond G. Drake of Lompoc died Friday, May 8, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 17, 1940 to Lester and Clara Drake in Los Angeles.

Raymond was raised and educated in Woodland Hills. Soon after his graduation from Canoga Park High School in 1959 he joined the United States Navy. He served as an electricians mate at various stations including Japan. A welder for over 35 years, he was employed at Vandenberg Air Force Base with Detachment 41 maintaining and refurbishing missile and launch structures.

Raymond was a hard worker who enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed wilderness boating, camping, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Dawn Drake of Lompoc, sons Dana Glen and Brodie Victor Drake of Lompoc, his sister Sharon Drake of Simi Valley, brother Ronald Drake of Simi Valley and his brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Cathy Drake of Agoura Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Amber Melanie in 1983 and his son Dusdin in 1995.

The funeral service will be on Friday, May 15, at 3 pm in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary followed by a reception.

Cremation will be followed by private inurnment.
