Obituary

With family by his side, Raymond O. Gloeckner was escorted home to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2007. He was born on September 3, 1981 at Lompoc Hospital.

He attended La Purisima Catholic School, La Canada Elementary, Lompoc Valley Middle, and graduated with the class of 2000 from Lompoc High School.

Raymond's life was filled with many challenges, accomplishments and lifelong friendships.He was known for his marvelous optimistic spirit. Many will remember his dramatic talents in several Lompoc High School's musicals. His rave leading role performances include You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Grease, Storybook Theater, and Westside Story. Before illness overtook him, he was active with the Lompoc Civic Theater and will be remembered as David in David's Mother.

Raymond loved exploring new interests including skydiving, radio-control model airplanes, and salt water aquariums. He participated in many youth sports such as AYSO, Little League baseball, basketball, and water polo. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and surfing. Raymond led a quality life and traveled extensively around the United States with his family. He was an avid Elvis fan and had an extensive memorabilia collection. Raymond made each moment and his courage and valor as he battled Cyctic Fibrosis was, and is, an inspiration to all who knew him and to those who also battle chronic illness.

He is survived by his parents, Terry and Helen, his brothers Billy and Terry Jr., and his sister Brenda Villa. His paternal uncles and aunts: Richard Gloeckner; Rob and Lucia Gloeckner; Diana and Jeff Transue. Maternal uncles and aunts: Raymond and Mary Sue Beaulieu; Linda Bealieu; Oscar and Jamie Bealieu; Theresa Fuller; and Paul Beaulieu; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His "brother" Eddie Ryglewicz, who is currently serving in Iraq; his honorary uncle and aunt, John and Terry Saunders. Elvis, his fox terrier and bedside companion and hundreds of close, personal friends, who will hold him in their hearts forever.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Oscar and Margaret Beaulieu (Tilley) and Maurice Tilley of Santa Ynez, California. Paternal Grandparents: William and Mildred Gloeckner of Long Beach. Maternal aunt and uncle Steve and Victoria Fountain of Arkansas.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 1st at Starbuck-Lind Mortuay from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, March 2nd at La Purisima Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Lompoc Cemetery.
