Rector "Lee" Williams

1933 - 2022

Mr. Rector "Lee" Williams of Lompoc California was born May 29, 1933 in West Point, Texas.  He died peacefully at home June 9, 2022.  Mr. Williams passing was Attended by his wife of 62 years Mrs. Hattie Mae Williams, children and grandchildren.

Mr. Williams lived a life of service, not only for his family, but for his larger world community. As the baby of five brothers, all of whom preceded him in passing in the same order as they arrived, the last one Mr. Richard Williams of Nevada who recently passed in May.

Mr. Williams served 20 years in the United States Air Force. He retired with many honors and accolades as a Tech Sargent in 1974 from Vandenberg.  He went on to serve for another 40-plus years in administration for both Alan Hancock college in Santa Maria, California and LaVern University, on Vandenberg AFB. With his life time teaching certification he taught part time, and held classes at the Federal Correctional Facility. Finally doing his last stretch as the first security officer at Lompoc High School, where he retired in 2014.

Mr. Williams was a foster father, an artist and craftsman, and a Deacon/treasurer at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, where he and his wife Hattie were founding members.  Mr. Williams and his wife were blessed with two children.

Rector is survived by, his son Byron W. Williams (Elaine) of Georgia, and daughter Valarie L. Bernard (Donald) of Texas, grandchildren Sarah Barksdale, Anthony (Brittany) Williams, Kwame Atta ( Mariam), Abena Ataa (Haris), Valarie Bernard Jr., and Harold Bernard III, great grands, nieces, nephews, beloved cousins and dear friends.

Memorial service will be held at his home church Saint James Missionary Baptist Church 11:30am Saturday July 2, 2022.
