Reginald Earl Lindsey died peacefully with his family surrounding him Saturday, April 21, 2018. He would have been 91 years old May 5, 2018 . Reg was born in Seattle, Washington to George and Fredeline Lindsey and married Alyce M. Wied, (who passed Jan 2001), on March 1957.
He joined the Army at the age of 15 yrs and served 4 years in World War II then went to college at the University of Washington and was drafted in the Korean War and served four more years in the Army.
He started working in Seattle, Washington for Boeing Corporation in 1951, married and had his children in Seattle. He was transferred by Boeing to VAFB, Calif. to take part in the Minuteman project in 1962 and retired in 1983 as a Quality Control Engineer Supervisor.
During this time he partnered and bought a frontier town in Santa Ynez in the early 1960's and started the Fast Draw Tavern and Dance Barn and was successful in starting weekend swap meets there for several years. Presently, the frontier town is still there and the Maverick Saloon, which was an original business that started is still there today.
From there he sold in 1973 and bought commercial property and started Antiquefest in Solvang, Calif and took part in this business for many years. Then spent some years in Los Alamos, Calif. selling his antiques which was a hobby he loved and took part in his life in Lompoc.
In the early years in he was involved in the Lompoc American Legion and started having dances at the Lompoc Memorial Building and had Dennis Wied his late son's band the Just4 play at.
He was a family man, handyman and had a work ethic that was impressive to his family. He will forever be remembered by his children, daughters Jan Manfrina (Bob) and LeAnne Heathman-Woolever (Tim) and son Scott Lindsey (Cynthia). Reggie presently has 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A private service with family will take place in the near future.
