Ricardo "Richie" Chavez went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2010 following God's plan.

A native of Lompoc, he was born September 16, 1974 to Ramon and Rebecca Chavez. Richie is survived by his parents Ramon and Rebecca; sister Lisa; brother Jerry; wife Debbie; son Anthony; daughters Rebecca and Sara; favorite nephew Nick; maternal grandmother Rebecca Ochoa, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and niece.

Most of all Richie loved being a father to his children, and he loved his family and friends. Baseball was a big part of his life. He made All Stars numerous years and enjoyed playing Homerun Derby whenever possible. Camping and fishing as a child were very special to him, and this is where his love of barbequing began.

He worked at the Jetty Restaurant for many years and also worked at Celite. He was a loyal fan of the Lakers and Dodgers.

He will be missed in our hearts greatly, but we will see him again when we meet in Heaven.

Visitation hours will be Tuesday, October 5 from 4 to 8 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald presiding. Burial will follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
